I bought this after buying the Comica CVM-D02 and not being happy with it. The sound on this set was boomy and fuzzy, like talking through a pillow. I was able to use it in Audacity after many tweaks, but I skimmed the BOYA set and decided they were worth a try for only $20. They sound way better than the Comica set and are cheaper. The results sound more balanced and natural. Of course it won't be better than pro quality Lava, but for the money I'm very satisfied. I think the fact that it requires a battery helps a lot. I hooked it up to a Panasonic G85 and was able to turn down the gain on the camera and still get clear audio. The unpowered mics I've used just can't keep up.
