I have used 3M cable nuts for years. They really are better than other brands. I usually twist the wires with pliers first, and then wrap the nut. You can pull hard on the wire nut and check for a good connection. Soft rubber on the outside makes it easy to turn and install. The rubber "skirt" extends about 1/4" further than typical wire nuts that cover bare wire (if you've stripped too much insulation - about 5/8" of bare wire is usually fine if you remove it together before attaching the wire nut ). There are a few things that should NOT be compromised and the electrical connection is one of them.
