Review on Purple Luxury Tea Infuser: Enhanced Loose Leaf Tea Scoop and Strainer by Mark Sutovsky

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very nice teapot that gets the job done

I bought this to pair with my Mikasa Daylight teacups - it's a lot more neon green than the design of the cups but I still like it as it saves spring leaves Theme. The silicone makes it easy to open and clean, and holds the metal brewer well so it doesn't pop open unexpectedly. I use it almost daily so I usually just rinse it off with hot water - wash with soap once a week. I like the little tray that comes with it. I would liken the silicone sized strainer and dome to an egg, so if you brew it in a 16 ounce mug it will hold a lot of leaves. The only reason I gave it 4 stars (update below) is that some leaves - depending on how small they are - fall through the brewer holes before you add the hot water. This is particularly the case with Earl Gray and several black tea blends. The holes are big enough to fit a pin through. This is a fairly minor issue, but it can limit the variety of teas I use with it. The bigger the leaves, the better. Update 6/3/2014: Just wanted to mention that I was able to minimize the spillage of leaves in my tea by simply pouring water into the cup first, carefully placing the teapot and allowing it to float and sink to the bottom of the cup on its own. I literally just tried it with a nice black tea that I mixed with cardamom and cinnamon tea - with lots of little bits - and practically nothing unwanted came out. As the leaves and herbs hydrate and expand in the brewer, small pieces are more likely to stay inside. I still use this infuser almost every day and love it so I upgraded it to 5 stars.
