There is an obvious problem with the design of those heavy straps and those heavy metal buckles. Both the strap and the buckle are not adjusted to the space the strap occupies. This causes the buckle to either bulge inward and pinch you, or outward, which looks very odd. They've obviously tried to make it a little more comfortable by cutting out an area, but the thickness of the webbing can't handle that. I suspect all of these heavy woven belts suffer from the same design flaw.
