My son loves this vacuum cleaner! (18 months old) He likes to help clean up and his favorite vacuum cleaner is too big for him. This one looks real enough to use in place of the big one. It has two buttons. The red button on the front turns on the small colored balls in the canister and makes a soft, non-scary sound. This button does not work for vacuuming and will not record anything in this mode. The switch on the back turns the suction on. It's a lot louder and you can tell it should work on that setting. This could be a star for kids - my son was a little scared at first and loves those sounds. It really works in this mode. After just a minute of cleaning, it collected a fair amount of pet hair and crumbs. It's not bad for batteries either. My son got it for Christmas, uses it several times a day and usually lets it work after use. So far I haven't had to change the batteries for a month and a half (in red button mode). The only issue we had was that the screw holding the battery cover broke off when we first installed the batteries. The piece of tape was strong enough to hold it. I can recommend all small vacuum cleaners!
