Review on C2G USB Extender 29353: SuperBooster Dongle for USB 1.1 over Cat5, RJ45 Female to USB B Male Receiver, Black by Jack Ford

I bought this product to be able to connect multiple devices to my telescopes. This way I stay warm in my office while my telescope, camera, serial control and a few other things can stay outside. The cable worked very well. However, remember that this is a USB 1.1 device, so don't expect USB 2.0 throughput. The kit includes 1 receiver, 1 transmitter and a 150ft UTP cable (I mention this because it's unclear in the description and I blindly ordered it.) I can run Logitech Webcam Fusion in full resolution with no problem. I then add a unpowered Belkin 4-port hub to the remote end. I can run Radioshack's webcam, SBIG 2000XM CCD scanner, and USB-to-serial adapter with no problems. All devices work normally at the same time. It will not work with a second connected webcam due to bandwidth limitations. When I tried it this way, either 1 or both webcams were blocked. But if I leave it on 1 webcam, no problem. You can download as many low bandwidth devices as you want, printers, scanners, serial devices and 1 webcam. 2 webcams are not supported. All devices were properly powered from a full 150ft USB extension cable when I ran my rig in no-power mode, although my Belkin USB hub came with an additional power adapter, I had to do not use. I am very satisfied with the product and recommend it. The only improvement is when USB 2.0 extenders come at an affordable price. I would like to be able to use this second webcam, it is needed for another telescope attached to the main scope.
