Purchased to connect the HDMI output of a Lenovo laptop (Linux Mint KDE 18.3 OS) with an HD monitor to a Sony Bravia TV. Both HDMI ports on the TV were busy, so I wanted to connect to one of the available component ports. ), all I saw on the TV was a dark gray screen with the component's port number displayed. I checked all the connections, pressed the permission button several times and waited, but I couldn't see the laptop monitor screen on the TV. The instructions are good by the way, but there was never a "colored banner" on the screen as the instructions say. The next day I wanted to return it but thought I should confirm that the laptop recognizes the TV as a monitor. After exiting the computer display and monitor settings, the TV suddenly had a default KDE desktop template. I synced the monitors and then scrolled using the monitor select key on the keyboard (function key off) - [F7]. Everything worked great! The TV is set to 1080P. Why didn't "out of the box" work? Perhaps the electronics needed a rest. It was a cold, rainy day when it was delivered and the package sat on the doorstep for a while. Or maybe I missed setting up the computer somewhere the first time I connected. I wiggled the connections and the picture stays stable, so it's mechanically solid. I can highly recommend based on my experience.
