Compact DVR with decent night vision from Amcrest

I bought this Amcrest Full-HD 1080p ACD-830B dash cam to see how well the SONY IMX322 image sensor and 432MHz processor work and how well the video quality is. . The package comes with Amcrest ACD-830B DVR, windshield suction cup, universal car adapter, 3ft mini USB cable, user manual and high-speed Class 10 memory card, so no hard rotation required. All I had to do was connect the dash cam and suction cup. Attach it to the windshield and connect the charger to the dash cam. Device and Use: There are several buttons on the left and right side of the dash cam, which are labeled with icons to indicate their functions. The controls are quite easy to get used to as the instructions in the manual are clear. It features a large 3-inch display with an LED indicator next to it showing the actions. Next to the lens and on the bottom is a microphone for sound recording. Memory card slot on the side for additional storage up to 64GB and mini HDMI/mini USB port for transferring video/data to other devices There is also a GPS module port if I choose, an optional GPS add-on to buy for tracking. The most important camera functions are included by default, so I only had to set the current time and date. The viewing angle is 160 degrees. /720P/WVGA/VGS, and they are fluent at 30 fps 3.5 or 10 minutes loop Recording Accelerometer crash detection and auto crash recording Parking sensor and motion detection Auto on/off along with car Support digital zoom and captured WDR images for automatic glare compensation PROS: - Suction cup mount i durable enough to keep your device in place. The device is also quite light, so it stays in place even on bumpy roads. The video quality during the day is pretty good. I can see license plates, cars and road objects very well. The license plate is easy to read at low speeds. At night, I found the Amcrest ACD-830B to do a pretty good job of making objects more visible with minimal noise. I can see more objects in the dark compared to other dash cams and the noise in the video is acceptable. I also found that the WDR mode worked quite well in changing light conditions. The Amcrest ACD-830B compensates for light by smoothing the settings instead of rapidly zooming in/out of the video. Please see my video as an example and remember the video has been compressed but is still of decent quality. The video is smooth at a constant 30 fps. - Customer Support. I should mention this as I tried to contact Amcrest via email and within a day they got back to me with an answer to my question. I would say it's a huge bonus if you're buying a dash cam for the first time as many dash cam manufacturers in the US don't have tech support. - Durable metal frame. Can't tell if it's aluminum but I like the metal frame. I accidentally dropped it on the band when opening the box and I'm glad there was no damage. Overall I like this DVR and it has all the features I need. Give it a try if you are looking for a dash cam with convenient night video recording.
