Review on OEMTOOLS 24338 100A Battery Tester by Mike Diaz

The first unit I ordered didn't work properly and gave me strange readings. The tester showed the battery surface charge at 8 VDC and dropped about half a volt when testing a suspected bad battery. I found this odd and tested the surface voltage with my Fluke meter which read a surface charge of 12.69 VDC and more or less matched the load voltage tester under load. Then I noticed that if I tapped on the tester's display window, the voltage would slowly increase until it read the same voltage reading that the Fluke meter was showing. I find that the results under load (button pressed) were fairly accurate, but the no-load test wasn't. I made a very painless Revain return and they quickly sent a replacement. I tested it again after the new tester arrived and it worked as it should. I think the arrow dragged where it goes through the display face. The reason for the three stars was based on the first not working properly. If it hadn't been for that it would have been at least four if not five stars as the replacement worked great. All in all, at $25, it works just as well as you would expect at this price point.
