Review on 48Pcs White Plastic Empty Artist Paint Pan Kits for DIY Watercolor Oils or Acrylics Painting with Magnetic Stripe - Watercolor Half Pans ideal for Travel Tin Case Palette Art Drawing by qianshan by Denise Davis

Great set for the price, well worth it

I bought a set of 48 empty tins. It arrived on time, only 53 pans. That's five extra pans, which I really appreciate. It was packaged fairly well, in a double bag, which was great in case the outside bag ripped. I think a more durable external pocket could have been better, but it was still good enough. They are exactly the same size as the halves that were in my palette. They are not as well made as you may feel a slight roughness or see small "burrs" at the top of the pan. It's only really noticeable if you run your finger over it, which you probably won't do after you've filled the pot and placed it on the drip tray. I just used the back of the scissors and ran them around the edge to remove some of the roughness. That's the only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five, but honestly for the money I'd say five stars because it's what I expected for the price. Along the top edge of the pot. Another reviewer mentioned that pre-cut magnetic squares are weak. That's true, but not far from what I expected for the money. I wish the magnets were a little stronger, but the stronger the magnet, the thicker it is. This magnet was already quite thick. It holds the pan on the tray well enough that I was able to turn the palette upside down without falling out and even shake it a bit. I wouldn't risk shaking it any harder, and I think if they're in an open channel in your pan, they're likely to slip. It is true that once the magnet is at the bottom of the pan, you can no longer snap the pan into the channel. This was to be expected. In order for the pans to snap into the trough, the small, curled top edge of the metal must be just above the top of the pan. Once the pan is lifted with a magnet underneath, this cannot happen. So I would only plan on using magnets if you're using them in the open space between the channels your brush goes into, or in an open flat area. These magnets are definitely not strong enough to use unless the palette you are placing them in is completely flat in that area. All in all it was what I expected for the price and I'm happy with them. I will never understand why tiny plastic boxes are so expensive just because they are for art. They remind me so much of the tiny plastic hotels and cabins that come with the Monopoly set, but you're paying more for a small set of pot halves than for an entire Monopoly game! But this is an inexpensive solution.
