This is pretty much what I expected: it will hold most tablets and smartphones (in landscape or portrait orientation relative to the position of the adjustable holder, although it's 360 can be rotated °.) It's fairly well balanced, allowing for creative placement of even large 10-inch tablets; Also, putting some weight directly on the flat base should be trivial if you want to position the tablet in a way that somehow unbalances the stand. The flexible neck is a bit stronger than I would like, but then again I think it has to be to hold the heavy tablet in place. My only concern is that the tablet holder is all plastic, particularly the socket that goes around the metal ball around your neck. I could see it breaking at some point, especially if you overtighten it without realizing it's plastic.
