The moment we opened the box and I showed my 2 year old son how to string these beads he went into full focus mode and I couldn't stop him. . I ended up giving him thicker laces with a plastic part on the end (like shoelaces) because the laces that come with this toy are very thin. I'll pick them up when he's a bit older and has finer motor skills. I tied a bead to the bottom of the lace to keep the beads from unraveling while he laces. Some other reviews have mentioned that the colors are off. I really didn't feel it. I thought that red, yellow and orange are absolutely distinguishable. A few more things I like about this set: 1) The shapes are the same for each color, so only one variable is used for sorting. 2) The beads are a lot bigger than I expected. Great for little hands. 3) The holes are large and smooth inside, making it easier for the cord to go through the bead. 4) They can be used for more than just lacing. I love open ended toys! The only downside to this item is really the size of the tip it comes with. easily fixable problem. Otherwise they are great and last a long time!
