It has been 7 weeks since I suffered a closed spiral fracture of the distal third of the fibula at the ankle. I have decided to purchase more BraceAbility medical socks to help me gradually transition from zero loading at 50% and then to partial loading when I can tolerate it. These socks are thick and protect the injured foot. I'm a size 7 1/2 and they fit well. I have tried thin socks from the hospital but my skin complains of discomfort. In addition, the BraceAbility product provides some compression that helps the swollen area of the injury. My socks are washed with a small amount of bleach and then dried normally. Update: One star deducted because I compared my old socks to the recently purchased ones and the difference is 1.5 inches. They have a seam, and this seam is best positioned so that it doesn't get caught between the toes and the hard shell of the boot. These socks have been very comfortable for me and I highly recommend them.
