These work better than any other I've tried. I rent an old house and the bathtub doesn't have a cover over the drain (I only use it for showering). The central part descends a little into the drain, then rises above it, gradually expanding around the drain. It will NOT stick to the surface of the tub but I haven't had any problems with it. It grabs the hair and holds it, but the hair comes off the top easily. I think to keep it clean you should take it off after each use, clean it well and let it dry. However, I don't. I use my bar to lift it up, I pluck out the stuck hairs (usually before showering to dry them) and then tuck them back in. They are affordable enough that after a while I can replace them. I'm in my 70's and disabled so not bending over helps me. This may not work if children and adults shower frequently. But they work fine for me.
