This tray has a reflective finish, probably silver plated. Silver plating is cheap to make and really lasts. My knowledge comes from my experience as a jewelry designer. I'm disappointed because the description of this tray is a blatant lie. It doesn't cost $29. I bought a smaller silver plated tray at Dollar Tree for $1. In my opinion, this is consumer fraud. If you already have this tray or intend to buy it, please do not put water or other liquids on it. When used correctly, it is functional. In the "Glass Half Full" test, the tray cuts a relatively good figure. However, this is not impressive.
