boy can I pick them. This is the second caller ID wall phone I've ordered. And I have problems with that too. The first phone was a very attractive AT&T phone that, when mounted on the wall, was unreadable unless you crouched down and looked at it from a 45-degree angle. It probably works great as a desk phone, but it's completely useless as a wall phone. I'm still trying to get an RMA number to send it back. The Revain Vendor is causing a lot of trouble. This phone is much more comfortable to use thanks to a beautiful backlit display that can be read directly when mounted on the wall. I've only had this for a few hours so these are my first thoughts. I'll come back and edit this review if I find anything else of note. First, the claim that it works during a power outage is misleading. Maybe he will, but I figured that meant he was disconnected from the phone company network. Nothing is displayed if it is not plugged into an outlet. There is an adapter with a BLACK wire that should go up the wall. CRAZY! If I had known that, I would not have ordered. It was number one on my list of selection criteria. Second, the presence of a display that is readable when mounted on the wall. I never thought about it until my first phone fiasco. Luckily it has a good display. It can be tilted up when used on a table or flattened when hung on a wall. Huge improvement over the first phone I tried. My next grip is a small one, or should I say a small missing one. Where is the short 3 inch pigtail used when wall mounting the phone? This phone only came with a long cable from the wall to the phone. I don't want the extra cord hanging down from the phone and it's too much to tuck under the phone. Must be ordered. I have the following problem with the wall mount. There are two wall mount holes on the back of the phone, one on top and one on the bottom seems correct, only they are 3.25" apart and will not fit a STANDARD wall mount plate which is about 5" center to center. Why standards if nobody uses them? So I only have the top hole above the post. I was worried that this might cause the phone to sway from side to side, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Until the phone falls off the wall, I'll skip this question. My next grumble is about caller ID. It seems like you have to go through a series of steps to see who called. Press Menu, Down Arrow, Down, Down, Down until you find Caller ID, then press OK etc. I think Caller ID should be the default screen on the phone with simple up, down and delete keys be. how easy is it This CID should be handy. I will most likely use the CID on the office phone. This phone lives in the kitchen. Which brings me to the cable. I saw some reviews complaining about the short cord. I thought it was stupid but now I see the problem. I think this cable is shorter than the OEM cables used to be. Guess I'll have to buy one long enough to reach the kitchen. I just hope the phone doesn't get taken off the wall with just one of the mounting holes plugged in. Another observation is how far it protrudes from the wall. You can make a cell phone as thick as a matchstick, but this thing sticks out 4.4 inches from the wall. Come on! It looks big, chunky and quite unattractive, especially when viewed from the side where it's gray and cropped. The front is completely flat with no contours whatsoever, and the sides are taken off just about half an inch at a 90 degree angle and then cropped. Unfortunately, they didn't put more effort into bringing this phone to life. I think it will look better on a table than on a wall. This phone doesn't have the big buttons that are so popular. The phone I'm returning was nicer overall, with larger buttons, but the backlight didn't shine through the keypads, so the backlight was mostly useless. The keys on this phone are almost sharp and you can actually see the backlit numbers. When switched on, the buttons light up yellow, as shown in the picture. The numbers are black and clearly visible. The Caller ID/Indicator LCD screen turns white. Our kitchen is a bit dark during the day when the lights are off and the LCD screen is difficult to read when the lights are off. I think the display light can just stay on as it gets power from the home air conditioner, but it quickly goes out when not in use. There's no menu item for that, and I couldn't find a button to light up the display. When you pick up the phone, the backlight does come on, but not for long. Another ill-conceived feature is the ability to "announce" the caller. Sounds very cool and very useful. So I don't have to get up to see who's calling, right? Well I just received a call while writing this review and it was announced as being a "wireless caller" call. For real? The number doesn't say it either. I'll eventually disable this feature (I saw it in the menu) as it's pretty much useless and more annoying than helpful. I haven't tried a cordless phone because I'm really only interested in the CID wall phone. . And I have NOT thoroughly tested all the features of this phone yet. I probably won't even use an answering machine as we all already have one that we're used to. However, if I find anything worth mentioning, I'll come back and update this review. However, my requirements for this phone are low since we mainly use our phones for sales. Added 7 Jul 14: I have found a really useful feature in this phone. You can block calls you don't need. I have completely filled the memory of blocked numbers. I find this a very useful feature. I guess I don't like that the number rings twice before hanging up. I would prefer not to have a ring at all. I was thinking about buying another phone to be able to block more numbers. Bottom line: I plan on keeping this phone because it will do what I wanted, a wall phone with caller ID. If I go upstairs and look at the display, I can see who's calling. It shows the "Wireless Caller" number in the Caller ID. Added 7 Jul 14: I have to say I received a factory refurbished phone which was like new. I paid about $50 for it. If I had paid full price I probably would have sent it back.
