Review on Bose SoundSport Truly Wireless Headphones Headphones by Janis Libeks ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product, more pros than cons.

The headphones wouldn't sync up with the laptop at first since they were mistaken for a headset. They flat-out refused. I contacted the site's help desk, where I learned that my issue was, in fact, quite widespread. Finally, the issue has been resolved in many situations after Bose upgraded the firmware for the headphones. Although it was of no use, I was eventually successful in getting everything to function as intended. Here's what I did (maybe it'll assist you): First, plug the headphones into the PC (but don't close the case; instead, leave them charging). Download the firmware updater from Bose product support (search for Bose system update center). You can upgrade the firmware on your computer by installing this software. Even though I had already updated my headphones using the app, a newer version was available. Step 3: Take the headphones out of their case and switch them on; the right earbud will tell you that it is searching for a device to connect to, and long pressing the left earbud's button will do the same. Do not use the computer's Bluetooth settings to pair headphones. Select Add Device from the Menu > Control Panel > Devices and Printers. In addition, my computer recognized these headphones and gave them the proper headphone designation. Click "connect" afterward, and I had perfect connectivity. Three months in, you'll notice that every time you connect to a computer, you'll need to go through this process again. After shutting off the headphones, the computer will begin to recognize them as a headset (meaning that just the right earpiece will function). Therefore, after erasing the headphones from the list of devices, steps 3–4 must be carried out once more.

Pros
  • Despite employing the simplest codec (SBC, AAP), the headphones produce excellent sound. In addition, no other manufacturer of wireless headphones uses these codecs but Bose. Despite this, studies show that these headphones destroy Sony using the cutting-edge LDAC codec. These (passive) headphones' ability to block outside noise is sufficient for my needs. At a moderate volume (I listen to rock), both conversation partners and the gym's background music become inaudible (I did not attempt this in the metro).
Cons
  • It appears that the first batch of headphones arrived with a fully dead case that refused to charge the headphones even after a full night's worth of charging. The fact that I was able to get a new set of headphones without any hassle when I took them in at Pult. Ru speaks volumes about how high-quality they are. The headphones' controls are painfully stiff. If you're holding the earpieces from below, there's still a risk you'll drop them without pressing the button. The technical support blog on their website suggests that after 3 months of use, they still haven't figured out how to link with a laptop. Repeat the steps outlined in the comments every time you log in to the system (( There are often brief moments when one earbud is lost. Not sure what this hinges on. If you play a video clip on your computer, for instance, then listen to it, every 30 seconds the sound will go out for a fraction of a second. The sound cuts out for 30 seconds, then comes back on. However, this issue does not manifest itself when using a different source (such as phone music). YouTube's video and audio are both delayed. The manufacturer claims that with the updated firmware, all problems have been fixed, and support has written extensively on the subject. Despite updating to the newest firmware, I still find that I frequently fall behind, and not only on YouTube.
