Review on Shock Doctor Ultra Ankle Support by Brian Douglas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent brace, best medical products and equipment

I tore two ligaments in my ankle. I rehabilitated him and my physical therapist recommended a figure eight brace for me as I travel for work and tend to push too hard too quickly. Pros Stability, my ankle isn't going anywhere. I wore these 5 weeks after the first injury when my ankle was still swollen from surfing. There are a few other ways your foot can move it, which can be a little painful when surfing, but nothing serious. It's comfortable in my shoes. It's winter now and I wear a lot of boots and can still put them on even though I have wide calves. I really have to take off the thicker soles and put in the thinner ones with this boot so my foot doesn't feel so tight. Wet or dry. As mentioned, I've hiked as well as surfed in this thing and it was so great to have it both times. You need to take a few minutes to put it on before heading out. It doesn't help with pressure pain. If stepping down causes pain, it doesn't prevent that pain from occurring while walking. When not in use, immediately place a thinner VelcroWear compression stocking over the injured leg. A compression sock helps with swelling, but in thick socks, this thing compresses your toes. So if you need thicker socks, pull the sock over the bandage. Put a regular sock on the other foot, it looks weird but trust me. Remove laces while drying. it's a stronger hold. There are finger holes on the side straps, tighten them with your index finger more than your hands. Buy winter boots with laces instead of zippers.

Pros
  • Best for moderate stability and support for moderate to severe sprains, sprains and joint instabilities
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
