UPDATE! This review includes both the CR Buds and the CR Buds+ (I bought BOTH and will be ordering a third pair for my daughter)! Obviously the other reviewers didn't read the instructions. "Airtight seal" and the like are mentioned at least five times. This applies to both types. I installed them straight away and they didn't fit properly so I can see where they're not getting bass. But that's for isolated listening. These are in-ear headphones, so you have to put them in your ear to listen. If you do, they are suitable for CRITICAL listening. Collect these buds and make the world go away! When properly matched, the bass is soul shattering. Mackie makes the most transparent audio hardware on the market and you won't want to miss this introduction to what I believe to be the best value for money in the highest quality headphones. I mentioned these are $20 and $40 respectively! I say that as a former (award-winning) audio engineer. I still listen to my Mackie HR824s in my review/list room. I am now accompanied by my new quality HR824 headphones, which put a smile on my wife's face and will soon bring a lot of joy to my daughter too. Clarity and dynamic range are amazing. Whether you go for a run or hook them up to a DAC and melt your face, the isolation is perfect. The sound space is wide open and well defined. I hear saliva in the sax on Take Five and the resonance of the toms on the drums, things I haven't heard in 20 years. And like I said, bass with the right fit is soul jarring. Remember, if they don't fit, you haven't done anything! Seriously, fit is paramount to amazing performance. And they are so delicious. They save because they're not trying to sell to the masses, only to a select few who want the best bang for the buck. In fact, they're as good or even better than headphones that are five times more expensive. Buy them now. Don't be fooled by trying to find a brand you like.
