It was a free purchase. I'm really glad I bought it. I've been using a mug egg basket for a long time, but when I moved to an area with colder winters I found that the tea wouldn't stay hot as long as I wanted. It's easy to lose track of time while reading or sitting at the computer. In any case, tea stays hot longer with a lid. Because the cup is deep, the tea cools down more slowly. This also allows for a large grip. Preheating the cup also keeps the tea hotter longer, and ceramic seems to retain a lot of heat. The brewing unit looks high quality. The grid filters the powder at the bottom of the tea tins well. It's not as good as my old tea leaf basket, but it's very close. It can hold a lot of tea underwater (I like strong tea). My mug arrived in good condition. The packaging offered good protection. Seems to be strong. I fiddled with the lid a few times and once the mug fell into our stainless steel sink without breaking. The surfaces are very polished (one of the reasons I dropped the lid in the first place) so the mug rinses well and is easy to clean. Until it got completely dirty. We don't have a dishwasher and I don't boil water in the microwave so I don't know how well it works. By the way, I have no idea what the item description "draw your own design" means.
