I love this humidifier so much I bought 3 of them. We used to use a different humidifier every year or two because we would pull the one out over the winter only to find the filters we needed were no longer available locally and we couldn't wait to try them and go Find. online and hope they were correct, or maybe I'll find out I forgot to throw away the filter prior to storage and that part of the machine just seemed nasty. A colleague of mine in the office had a Crane humidifier and it seemed to work great, but then I saw the price tag and decided it wasn't for me. I searched and found this alternative and it's great. Good stable performance, auto shut off when water runs out, if you wish, you can direct the flow in two different directions. It consists of just four parts: a base, a tank, a part that needs to be unscrewed and attached to the tank so it can be filled with water, and a small plastic element that sits on top to direct the mist. I have 2 at home and one in my office. I fill them up once a day and once a week or so, I take an hour, pour some vinegar in the pieces and let them soak a bit to kill the germs, then wipe them off and fill them up again. They have been used constantly, some for 2 seasons (and a couple of times I forgot to fill them up and left empty for a while) and I've never had any problems. I see them lasting and possibly buying more if we move to a bigger house.
