Doesn't work for Las Vegas water. My two ultrasonic humidifiers were still producing WHITE DUST! However, I would suggest getting an EVAPORATIVE type water humidifier in Las Vegas or anywhere else where the water can be very hard. As a side note, I bought a Vornado Evap40 and MORE MORE WHITE DUST with this humidifier! I use the same water from a Berkey water filtration plant (survival/disaster that can happen) to fill the tanks on my Ultrasonic and now on this vaporizer. Evaporation unit produces NO WHITE DUST!
