Plug and Play, works right out of the box. Converts analog composite video input signal (yellow RCA connector) to digital output via HDMI. The device does not overheat even after several hours of continuous operation. My standard definition DVDs showed a very clean picture on my new 24 inch HDMI monitor. My old DVD player delivers a FBAS video signal that is fed to an A/D converter. Of course, I expect even sharper and clearer pictures from the same movie DVDs when my all-digital DVD player comes along with an HDMI output. The new setting eliminates the D/A conversion in my old DVD player, followed by the A/D conversion in this unit, which unnecessarily adds digitizing noise. I will keep this adapter until the world's last composite output device is redesigned.
