Decent vitamin C filter

I bought a couple of other inexpensive vitamin C filters but they both failed within a year so I gave this one a try. I've had it for about half a year now. It seems to be working as intended. I've never tested the water, but I notice when I shower with regular water that it dries my skin. Showering with vitamin C keeps my skin from drying out, especially in winter. So it definitely serves its purpose. However, cartridges do not last as long as expected or advertised. I think they should be enough for X gallons and I've done calculations and shower times and there's no way. Lasts maybe half as long as advertised. I shower with about 4 roommates and it lasts 11-12 days max. None of us takes long showers - on average, each of us spends less than 5 minutes a day. And I have a 1.5 GPM showerhead. You can count. I got tired of buying new cartridges so I started taking the cartridge off and only putting one in when I showered as I seem to have sensitive skin. Now they last a month. This calculation doesn't quite add up either. My guess is that they don't last as long as the water stays in the filter even when not in use, and the filter media is probably slowly dissolving. If you showered non-stop you might have 3,000 gallons or something, which should be enough. But if you use it normally i.e. H. Multiple times a day, or even once a day, you won't get the same yield, again I suspect due to the slow dissolution factor. Or maybe where I live we just have a lot of chlorine and chloramines, so he eats vitamin C faster. In that case, I can't blame the company. But cartridges only cost about $5, so it's not a huge financial drain. The filter seems to be quite durable so I'm hoping it will last over a year this time. .By the way, I rotate the filter so that water drains out of it when not in use, but that doesn't seem to detract from the longer lifespan. At least not for me. I've tried other filters that last a lot longer, but some of the dirt gets trapped in them and it's pretty annoying. In this model, I like how you see the filter and you know it's empty. It also stays clean all the time and looks more hygienic. Good point: it works. Good design. Stay clean. Cons: Filters don't last as long as advertised.
