If you're looking for a compact external solid state drive that feels good, be sure to check out this offering from TEAMGROUP. I've only had mine a few weeks so time will tell but for now he can handle anything I've thrown at him. I was looking for a high capacity SSD to use as a backup boot clone for Apple High-Sierra and I was able to do that with the PD400 with ease. When I received it the drive was formatted as ExFAT (for PC) so I used Apple's Disk Utility to repartition the drive with the GUID map scheme and reformatted it as APFS. After that I made the PD400 the target drive for Carbon Copy Cloner 5 (great app btw) and had a bootable clone of my Mac Mini's hard drive (all 150GB) in just over 20 minutes. On the 1st day, I was able to encrypt the boot volume with Apple's FileVault (this takes a while since it's running in the background), create additional APFS volumes on the drive, and copy files quickly at around 20GB/min. All in all, the PD400 does everything it's supposed to and is pretty cool at the same time. TEAMGROUP also supplies two high-quality USB connection cables with the drive, so it's ready to use. Do yourself a favor by adding one of these little gems to your tricks, and it will keep your data safe for years to come.
