I have about 15 of these units in my rig. Most of them were installed in 2011. More were installed in 2015. All electrical connections are made and hidden behind a mounting plate that screws into a user-supplied lighting box. The head unit then snaps into place on the mounting plate. This has two decisive advantages for us. The initial 110V/277V connection is made during installation and maintenance personnel do not need to do any electrical work. Second, the main unit can be replaced or repaired without turning off the lighting circuit. Battery life was an issue. In four years, about 30 percent of the batteries had to be replaced. I chose original Lithonia replacement batteries as they have the correct connector. Battery 3.6V Ni-Cad (3 AA cells in a triangle).
