You get what you pay for

I'm an archaeologist and I was due for a new pair of excavation/hiking shoes. I didn't have time to shop so I purchased the Walmart recommended shoes. They cost $35 and you literally get what you paid for. These shoes are extremely cheap and do not last long. After one week of walking in agricultural fields, the shoe began to detach for the sole. This was extremely problematic because plants would continuously get stuck in the top of the shoe, which was very uncomfortable. There were a few days when I had to walk in wet plants and the shoes did not hold up at all. When I was digging holes, dirt would go through the shoe and leave my foot filthy underneath. I wore the shoes for 6 straight weeks and then discarded them. While the sole did detach, the cushion inside the shoe was very comfy. Overall, these are VERY poor quality shoes. Only buy if you're okay with discarding them after a few weeks.

Pros
  • The material is easy to clean and maintain
Cons
  • May cause blisters on the side of the foot
