This was a good replacement for the defrost heater. My old one might actually be fine because when I replaced it I found that the wire paddle joints were corroded by surface rust from the wet environment so I added high temp dielectric grease to protect them in the future. But it works fine. The thermistor was OUT OF CALIBRATION. You really need to make sure that at 32F (ice water) the resistance is 16.3K. What I got in this product reads 35K. Since the thermistor senses when the defrost heater is off, my defrost cycle would take the freezer to 70F+ and melt everything. Also, the thermistor must be mounted on the top evaporator tube. top. The lower one (like the thermostat) leads to readings that are too cold and again slightly overheated. The thermostat is really just an overheat protector that cuts out at 140F, in normal operation it does nothing. The unit that comes with this kit is fine, but has a less secure retaining clip than the OEM part, making it more likely to fall off the evaporator tube.
