I actually adapted this tubular micro beaded pillow to support my neck and head in my bed. I have arthritis in my shoulder and neck and for my needs I cut off the plastic device on both ends. It can then be placed where I need it on top of my standard bed pillow for extra support. This is actually my second purchase of this item; my first pillow started to give out after three years and i was happy to finally find a replacement. The best pillows are the ones you can adjust to a comfortable and supportive position, and microbeads work for me. Another answer to this could be a very flat feather pillow that you bend and adjust to the position you are lying in. I'm just saying. LAUGH OUT LOUD
