Review on Symphonized MTL Earbuds: Dual Driver Heavy Bass, Premium Silver In-Ear Headphones with Mic & Noise Isolation by Tiffany Williams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great sound with compromises made elsewhere

The name describes this headset pretty well. The Symphonized MTL headphones deliver amazing sound with deep, rich bass and pronounced mids and highs. This headset also looks sleek with a stainless steel housing for the speakers and control area. There's even a flat, tangle-free cable and a right-angle 3.5mm jack. Where compromises have been made to bring the price down to $20, it starts with the carrying case. There is no case supplied as such, just a small pouch that does little to protect these very nice sounding headphones. Another compromise was the build quality. The money for this headset was spent on drivers, everything else went into the budget [read cheap]. The included silicone ear pads are cheap. The flat cable from the headphones to the 3.5 mm jack plug is cheap. The reinforcement for the 3.5mm rectangular jack is free because it is not available. So what do you get? Headphones that sound like they should cost a lot more than they actually are, but probably won't last long because the rest of the package doesn't match the quality of the drivers. If you're like me and you know what you'll end up with replacing a sub-$20 headset like this every 6-12 months, you can appreciate the compromises Symphonized made to offer customers something that looks good and sounds great. . However, if you're expecting your sub-$20 purchase to deliver great sound and last a year or more under heavy use, you'll likely be disappointed with this offering. This headset is best for those who have the right expectations for headphones at this price point and based on that I think this is a solid 4 out of 5 headphone offering from Symphonized.
