We bought this for our new Cavapoo puppy aged 7 weeks when we brought her home. We used the cage to teach her to sleep for 4 weeks and she was fine but felt really safe in the cage. We added food, water and bedding. I ended up using it to sleep in the living room every night. If she gets too excited, we open the door and she comes in to calm down on command. Not because she's being punished, but because this place is quiet for her. She comes here alone when she wants to sleep or when she's hyper and wants to get away. This is a large size. Now she weighs 8 pounds and she still loves it. We have 2. One in the living room downstairs and one in my office where she goes with me when I'm working from home. We also used the second one when she was a little puppy. Keep it in the yard to take her to the potty. We just love our pen.
