Yes it will hold your pants but so will the rope. I think I'm spoiled for buying the BlueAlpha belt. I was trying to save money buying this one but it's just shadow of the other. The velcro doesn't attach smoothly to the strap, which makes me wonder if it will come loose along the way. I will not be returning as I could leave this on the shorts. The lack of a plastic pull loop (see the blue Alpha belt for comparison) that you can use to tighten the belt doesn't make this belt the best. For a few bucks more, the addition of that plastic loop with this belt will be a game changer. But for 9€ or so it's ok. Visit the BlueAlpha website to buy another one, although it costs around $40.
