First of all, as many have said, this cage is not large enough to be used as a single cage, even for a small animal. However, some of these cages, connected by lots of tubes and hiding places, seem to be enough to keep my two mice happy and active, and the spacing between the bars is small enough that there is no escape. I like to add the few cages I have so I can appreciate the fact that they are so easy to build and connect. However, be aware that they can be quite brittle and the plastic can easily break or scratch if you are not very careful when inserting the parts or disassembling the cage. Also, one of my friends had hamsters chewing/scratching on animal cages, which bothered me at first, but my mice didn't damage any part of their cages or hoses/extra accessories. Be aware that these cages may not be for you if your small animals have been known to chew on their plastic toys or run away. Cuddle zones because it's easier to clean and take care of the cage yourself, and it's also easier to pay attention to your little friend to make sure everything is ok. I attached a hanging chew toy to the top opening of the cage and my mice seem to like it very much.
