Review on Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra SM-N986B/DS, Dual SIM 5G International Version - Unlocked, 12GB+256GB Mystic Black - No US Warranty by Ayden Loh ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am delighted, the product is really worthy.

A few conclusions: 1. Do not take the version on Exynos, there will be some frustration from autonomy. She's just awful, really. On the version with Snapdragon, there is no such problem, normal autonomy, it lives quietly until the evening. 2. To the price of a smartphone, be prepared to add another 5-10 thousand for accessories, because. wearing it without a case is somehow scary. Personally, I also bought: - fast memory card 400 Gb (SanDisk Extreme), 6.5 thousand. - fast charging at 45 watts, because native "fast" at 25 is not so fast compared to the same Warp Charge from OnePlus, this is another 3.5 thousand. - a cover-book, 4.5 thousand. Total +15 thousand only for accessories. By the way, in the Snapdragon version there is a cool silicone transparent case, which for some reason is not put in the Exynos version, although the processor was already deprived. Why did not take OnePlus 8 Pro? Worse is the camera, the sound (to listen in the car via Bluetooth) and there is no stylus. As a result, I am completely satisfied with the purchase after replacing it with the Snapdragon version. The Exynos had white, a very nice color for this phone. I also wanted white on Snap, but only black remained. I don’t particularly regret it, plus on black the upper and lower edges are also black, and on white they are silver. And as a result, in a black book case, these silvery stripes were visible in contrast between the black screen and the black case. With the black version, everything looks more harmonious, but the beautiful color of the back panel and the silver block where the cameras are lost (on a black device, that block is also black) There will be questions - write, I will try to answer. I would write more, but the limit of 2022 characters per block does not allow this) I will add a photo later, if I have time to do it and someone will be interested . Good luck everyone and thanks for reading! P. S. added a photo of the battery consumption. See for yourself and compare with what you actually have on Exynos.

Pros
  • 1. Screen Before this phone was OnePlus 7 with a frequency of 90Hz. There is an excellent screen, smooth operation thanks to a refresh rate of 120Hz. 2. Camera It shoots great, good quality both photos and videos. Before the OnePlus 7 Pro, there was the Galaxy S9+, which also had a decent camera, but the Note 20 Ultra is just great in this regard. 3. Stylus At work, I often have to take notes. At one time I bought an iPad with a stylus, there is such a program in the App Store, called Notability. Allows you to take notes and write voice at the same time. As a result, later, when viewing a note, you can also listen to what was currently discussed at the meeting, which is very convenient, but even the smallest iPad (9.7) is quite bulky and heavy. Subsequently, I switched back to a regular paper notebook. This phone with stylus also allows you to take notes with voice recording. After a couple of days of use, I got used to writing on it, quite conveniently. 4. Sheath Yes, some people like it, some don’t (for example, I don’t have enough built-in call recording), but the Samsung shell is somehow finished or something, attention to detail and trifles is higher than on OnePlus and Xiaomi Mi 8 (was and such a phone has been in use for about a year). For example, I really like Edge's sidebar. I understand that its analogues can be put on other android smartphones, but these will be analogues. As a result, I have one work screen with 5 icons at the bottom, clock / weather and Google search. Everything else is in the Edge sidebar. In the Samsung store you can buy such a panel, on which there will be icons in two rows and you can still scroll them in a vertical direction) 5. Sound (with Dolby Atmos enabled). In the car, songs in Lossless format with Radio Paradise sound great. The sound is definitely better than it was on the Galaxy S9 + with the same Atmos. Carried Samsung in the car purely for music, tk. OnePlus is generally sad .
Cons
  • 1. Battery But here it is necessary to make a very important remark! I first bought the version on Exynoss, PCT. On the second day after the purchase, the phone was removed from charging at 8.45 am and by 12.30 55% of the battery was left. I don’t play games on my phone, I rarely watch YouTube (I didn’t watch that day), mostly it’s calls / browser / messengers / mail, and plus - using a stylus. I don’t use navigation either, a good regular one is in the car. After OnePlus, which lived until the evening (20-30% remained), it was something incomprehensible with Samsung's autonomy. Plus, it also warmed up, I felt the heat from the device with my hand. I went to the store where I bought this phone and changed it to the Snapdragon 865 version. And everything fell into place: the phone does not heat up, holds a charge like OnePlus 7 Pro, lives up to the evening perfectly. I'll give an example: when I changed my phone, I transferred information from the Exynos version to Snap through the synchronization program. The Snap version was just taken out of the box, there was a 25% charge, the Exynos version had 50%. Synchronization took about 20 minutes. As a result, on the version with Snap after the completion of the synchronization, 20% remained, and on the Exynos version only 38%. That is 5% versus 12% for the same action and time. Both phones are brand new. One just opened, the second was 1 day old. We draw conclusions about processors and wonder why Samsung puts these incomprehensible processors in top phones. 2. Price for accessories Okay, the cost of the phone itself, ok, the flagship after all, but everything else . All prices are below from the official. samsung store: Glass (native, of course) - 6 thousand. Stick it - another 2 thousand. A cover, not a book - 5 thousand, a cover-book (which in the end I took and the glass was not needed, because the screen is closed) 4.5 thousand. Do not apply a coating to the screen, I don’t remember what it’s called, but not glass or film. The stylus will push through it and traces will remain. By the way, I was very pleased with the flip case, it has a sidebar where notifications are displayed and you can answer/reset a call.

They took it as a replacement for a mobile device instead of a laptop and tablet

Everything is fine, but the terrible battery covers all the pluses.
