Mold and mildew problem is FAKE NEWS

Mold and fungus problem - FAKE NEWS. This is written by people who either don't know how to properly care for their water bottles, or who do but have made an honest mistake. The fact is that anything that has moisture in a closed space with no access to air can go moldy. Mold. How can this be avoided at all? AIR. Air flow normally prevents mold/fungus growth. Our family has been using two of these bottles for 2 years and they have had no problems with mold or mildew. To prevent this, here's what you need to do: 1. Fill the bottle and use it throughout the day.2. If you have not used the bottle overnight, simply discard any unused water from the bottle and store the bottle open to the air on a counter or other location with access to air.3. Open the cap/lid by releasing the latch, shake out excess water and place on the counter (without the latch) leaving the inside of the cap/lid open to air.4. Wash the bottle and cap with hot, soapy water once a week (or more often). Fill the bottle with hot soapy water, put the cap on the bottle, leave the lid on and shake vigorously. Rinse with clean hot water and dry the entire device with a clean towel. Then leave the bottle and lid open (open, not closed) on the counter or in the dryer to allow air to enter. Allow to dry for several hours (or preferably overnight). We have been using the above process for 2 years and the bottle is mold/fungus free and looks brand new. We only wash once a week. It has held up well in everyday use by small children and has been dropped dozens of times. We really like these bottles. Good luck and have fun!
