Controls require the Sonos 2 app so I had to buy a brand new tablet as my old one didn't support the Sonos 2 app I don't like that Sonos can turn off the speakers for device compatibility. Just play music, even if the old device doesn't support all the new features, it should at least play music. The SONOS loudspeakers also have a very good volume, but are not LOUD. I would say they are more than enough for watching TV shows and movies. But when listening to music, you sometimes want it to be a little louder. I think it's easy on my eardrums, so I'm not complaining. Finally, for auxiliary input and TV streaming, I had to hard-wire Ethernet to my speakers, as they often suffer from transient audio dropouts no matter how good your signal is.
