Review on 🔗 StarTech.com 18in Dual Drive Ultra ATA IDE Hard Drive Cable - UDMA 66/100 - 1.6 ft - IDE66, Gray by Andres Callahan

I have purchased other StarTech products and have been satisfied with their quality. Either it doesn't meet the usual standards, or I just got a defective one. While attempting to route the cable I decided to make a change and when I carefully removed the connector from the back of the drive the clip holding the connector to the IDE cable released immediately with no pressure on the connector, it came straight out of the cable. I can't say it wasn't caused by me because it was, but I've used many IDE cables over the years and tend to only use the $2-$3 options, and I've never been happened. I decided to try this one based on the quality of their other products. but at more than twice the cost of other IDE cables that do the same thing, it's a little disappointing that it breaks so quickly and easily. I would like to add that I have not contacted StarTech regarding this, so I cannot speak to customer service. It is possible that they will pay for items, exchange them or otherwise dispose of them. I ended up using another IDE cable I had on hand and I don't really want to return that $7 cable. In the future I will still use StarTech for other parts but will probably stay away from it as I've had better luck with cheaper options.
