It really fits the original Xbox. However.

Will definitely fit the original Xbox. However, you have to be creative with how you stack it. There is an easy way to do this so the cable doesn't get twisted into a bundle. However, this cable is cheap. The blue connector broke off the end of the cable on my first try when I tried to disconnect it from the IDE->SATA adapter. This is probably only good for one install. If you absolutely must remove it after installation, grasp the plug from the top and bottom (the longer plug face, not theโ€ฆ

Perfect for upgrading the original Xbox hard drive

I've had my Xbox in my closet for 15 years and finally decided to give it a fresh start. This is the second Xbox I own and all of these things have hard drive failures. To fix this I had to change it so I could replace the faulty hard drive to fix the BIOS issues it was having. I ordered a sata adapter and a 24 inch IDE cable as suggested. The cable took a week but I was impatient so I ordered it with Prime. I've seen some reviews saying it doesn't fit, but it does fit with minimal creases. Inโ€ฆ

absolutely useless

Let's be honest you are buying this to upgrade the hard drive in your original Xbox. NOT. Because of the way its connectors are configured, you have to wrap it in a weird, potentially dangerous way to connect it to your hard drive. Also, the first or second attempt to remove it from the DVD drive will break the connector in the drive. Use the Startechs IDE to SATA adapter, not the IDE cable.

not recommended for original Xbox

Too short for original Xbox. As mentioned, the connectors are oriented in different directions, which means that the part that connects to the Xbox motherboard and the part that connects to the Xbox DVD drive are facing in two different directions, so bending the cable to connect is possible, but the cable will be too short to work. The cable itself seems to be of good quality, the delivery was fast. I'm sure it will be good for those using the old technology.

Broken Cables and Connectors

My Plextor IDE DVD burner was no longer visible to either my motherboard BIOS or Windows so I ordered this cable to see if my old IDE cable was defective. I removed the old cable and connected this one (it didn't fix the problem) but the quality of this new cable is pretty bad. The drive connectors on the end are easy to disconnect from the cable, showing the insertion pins that go into the wires. . I've never had such a broken IDE cable. As for my DVD burner not visible issue, I bought an IDEโ€ฆ

NOT THE RIGHT SOLUTION FOR XBOX

the one I received does not fit the Xbox at all in length or orientation. I had to use the black connector to connect to the mobo (the other direction - the blue one - didn't work at all - then the cable didn't reach from the DVD to the HDD). When connecting the black end to the mobo, the other connectors face the wrong way when connecting to the DVD drive and HDD, so you have to twist it. And then the length from DVD to HDD is NOT enough and you can't bend down nicely to get there. the cableโ€ฆ

The connector broke after disconnecting once

I have purchased other StarTech products and have been satisfied with their quality. Either it doesn't meet the usual standards, or I just got a defective one. While attempting to route the cable I decided to make a change and when I carefully removed the connector from the back of the drive the clip holding the connector to the IDE cable released immediately with no pressure on the connector, it came straight out of the cable. I can't say it wasn't caused by me because it was, but I've usedโ€ฆ
