My Plextor IDE DVD burner was no longer visible to either my motherboard BIOS or Windows so I ordered this cable to see if my old IDE cable was defective. I removed the old cable and connected this one (it didn't fix the problem) but the quality of this new cable is pretty bad. The drive connectors on the end are easy to disconnect from the cable, showing the insertion pins that go into the wires. . I've never had such a broken IDE cable. As for my DVD burner not visible issue, I bought an IDE to SATA adapter which fixed the issue as it seems the IDE controller on my motherboard has failed. So I connected my IDE DVD burner to my motherboard's SATA port using an IDE to SATA converter and it works great.
