First of all, no matter what product you buy, it seems that at least a few people have had bad experiences. The truth is that things will inevitably go wrong, especially when you can buy 2 of these fans for $15. I have to say I just installed one of these and it was easy. He doesn't make a sound. It displaces water very well. It's small and doesn't take up much room in my 75 gallon tank. The suction cup is very good. So will there be defective units? I am sure. Will the device die sooner than you want it to? Maybe. But I don't regret buying this circulating fan. It does exactly what it says on the tin and hey, a 2 for 15 deal means I have a spare if one goes down. For those who think 1 for 75 gallons isn't enough, it all depends on what type of flow you really want. This thing is very good at squeezing out water. I also have an fx6 for filtering which moves the water really well but the fan really added the extra flow I needed. My guppies love it when they swim in front of it to get black wind and do it again. All my fish are very active from the moment they are installed and will find places where the current is not strong at night so I just leave them on. Do yourself a favor, don't worry about the reviews and give it a try. It's only $15.
