Great - what it is for

This is a very basic player that I bought to watch foreign DVDs - and it works great for that purpose. -240V; Get an adapter plug and you can use it all over the world. It plays US DVDs - Region 1, NTSC. It plays DVDs I bought in Europe - they all seem to be "region free", PAL. So I'm not sure if it will play DVDs destined for a region other than 1. It has relatively "low-tech" connectors: - composite video (RCA connector) - component video (3 RCA connectors) - S - video - stereo audio (2 RCA connectors) - coaxial digital Audio (RCA connector) It can output NTSC or PAL signal to TV. There is a corresponding setting in the menu - the default is "auto", but you can also switch to PAL or NTSC. And since a misconfiguration on a single-system TV can mean you don't get a picture, there's a sticker on top of the unit that tells you which buttons on the remote to press to reset the DVD to default settings . The remote control is small, cramped and definitely cheap-looking - and needs to be pointed directly at the DVD player's sensor (a bit annoying). There is no LCD on the unit, just 3 buttons (Eject, Play/Pause and Stop). In general, of course, the player looks "expensive" - but as long as it works, everything is fine for me. I bought one for myself, one for my mom and one for my sister who lives in Europe :).
