I've only been sewing for 2 years and learned to sew on a $150 Brother machine which I think is great. Until I got this car! (3 months ago) Stitches like a living dream. I NEVER embroidered until I got this machine. I've searched for months to find two things I need: embroidery options and a large neckline. This one has a 9" (my old car was a 5" - the difference is amazing!). You can learn a lot from this car. I have never embroidered, so I learned to sew well at first. I watched a lot of videos on youtube, from the cutting machine to the computer controlled display. I watched them adjust the side of the embroidery, changed the stitch plate and embroidered their first embroidery design. The most useful are the free handicraft books on the bernette website. Work through both and you will have a complete picture of this car! They are great and good for reference. I find it important to use embroidery-specific bobbin thread when embroidering, and I'm still learning about the brands of thread my machine prefers on this site. Oh and a great thing - the needle threader - my brother has never really worked and with my poor eyesight it's hard to thread a needle. It works every time you fuel it properly. I love it. This machine has the most features I could find for a machine in this price range and I love it.
