Quality control missing in use?

I've spent a lot of time pumping out the air conditioning with this collector. There was a leak which I additionally located with nitrogen at 150psi. Further time spent troubleshooting indicated a red gauge - it was leaking with a clogged charge port at 40psi / 10 minutes! I took off the red pressure gauge and found a horrible teflon tape that was leaking. A few extra turns of teflon and the leak dropped to less than 1psi in 2 hours! It is absolutely disgusting to save 2 turns of phone tape in the factory and produce a product like this! Otherwise, the manifold looked carefully finished, with no burrs on the threads. After fixing the leak, I checked the manifold with hoses and ball valves attached and found no significant leaks (less than 2psi drop in 9 hours). Be sure to inspect the cylinder seals as they are easily damaged (a tool to replace damaged seals can save you hours of testing). I wonder what kind of quality control Yellow Jacket has? Even they got it from China, shouldn't the crappy distributor be QC checked? Maybe YJ is now a Chinese company - that would explain everything? But if the CC were to take place in the US, things don't look good.
