Review on Dorman 674 961 Exhaust Manifold Kit by Dakota Tailor

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Use OEM MLS gaskets and stainless steel bolts. (see description) for VIN 8 with 3 valves

It's hard without a red key. Psychotherapy is right! The first time in mid-2017 it took me about 25 hours without a cutter. This is the driver's side, but I had to lift the engine when I did the passenger's side, saw it and broke it into pieces. 01/10/20 Now I have to do the same thing again. Gaskets are bullshit. They rust quickly. leakage and deformation/pitting on the collector surface. Use high quality stainless steel OEM MLS seals. they don't rust! Heat shields disappear in a rust belt after 12 months. Bought a set of stainless steel bolts and nuts. on a competitor's website but they also sell them here I see now but they were cheaper elsewhere (Ford 4.6 and 5.4 liter V8 stainless steel exhaust manifold stud kit (one side)). I should mention that they came out after 3 years when I submitted them yesterday and these are no exaggerations. I used the old OEM gaskets as I kept mine from the last install as they were fine and only scraps were left after years. Brillo-ed them and it's perfect. Don't waste your time with the crap I described or just go to the OEM but it doesn't get much better. My OEM heat shield disappeared after 2 years. and the studs broke after 2.5. Problem? Well, again, in my opinion, the problem is that water constantly interferes with the engine. There's no rubber shield (like I've always seen and seen) that protects against wheel spatter. everything he (salt spray) touches rots. Steering joints, valve cover area etc. in the rust salt belt. In another 5-10 years this truck will return to where it started. Iron.

Pros
  • Rugged design - designed by the industry leader in aftermarket headers
Cons
  • Some small things
