New TV but it doesn't work.

I have a new TV which I bought in April this year. I connected the antenna as indicated in the instructions, which is not difficult. And I went to the right input for my TV and antenna. And I only have a black screen. It's by the window, I'm not under the trees or anything. And I can't do it at all. I have no idea about the image quality, I'm constantly fiddling with it trying to get it to work.
