Review on Stainless Steel Bicycle Rotors - 160mm/180mm Floating Disc Brake Rotor with 6 Bolts for Road Bike, Mountain Bike, MTB, BMX by Marcus Cano

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My very first floating rotor

In short: so far so good, replacement for a massive stock rotor that was bent and warped. On the old rotor when going down the mountain and especially when the rotor got hot. I would have heard that sound coming from my spokes, which I still haven't heard. It may not be true, but I think it was the noise created by uneven forces due to thermal expansion. This or my rotor was so deformed that I confirmed on a flat surface. It was pretty bad. Not sure yet as it's only been a week. One of my biggest concerns, based on another review, was the possibility of the floating rings coming into contact with my brake pads. I'm not sure and will need to test it with fresh seals before I can say for sure. An uneven pad connection can cause this contact, but if it's textbook material this rotor shouldn't have this problem. Maybe I'll switch to a rigid rotor in winter, but for spring, summer and fall it's ideal.

Pros
  • Floating brake discs inside and outside are defective, generally two kinds of material, and through the riveting connection, not rigid connection, there is a certain freedom to reduce heat transfer, on the other hand, which can solve the internal stress problem.
Cons
  • I won't say anything
