So we are building a new house and wanted to add a water treatment system. Our new house has a water heater. They're great, but limescale destroys the inside. So I called my county water board and asked for the water test results. The engineer sent them to me and she also said if you are also considering a whole house filter please remember that we added chloramines for a reason. So you don't want to take them out with a whole house filter. So they first added very high levels of chloramines to our water. Among other things, it destroys the adrenal system. Second, what the heck is in the water that they want to kill so bad. Well, the human body is 80% water, we drink it, bathe in it and in general it is needed for survival. Therefore, pure clean water is very important to me. We opted for a salt-free system for the whole house. Often referred to as a softener, it doesn't remove minerals from the water like a true salt-based softener does. It simply reverses polarity, protecting the plumbing. Chloramines destroy the tar layer, so we installed an activated carbon filter throughout the house to remove them, as well as heavy metals, pesticides and other nasty substances. So now we have to worry about what lives in the water that the county is trying to destroy. No, we have this whole house UV water filter. It's big enough to be rated for our water usage. It may not be too important for everyone. However, if the system is too large, every molecule that passes through the device will be exposed to a lot of UV radiation. The way the water flows through this device in a spiral rather than straight up mixes the water around the UV lamp, maximizing UV exposure and killing nearly all aquatic life before it hits my carbon filter. and the rest of my house. It may be a bit of an exaggeration, but good, clean and safe water is my number one priority. Every drop in our house will be safe. The device itself may not be the best for outdoor use, like my water set. So I'm working on a dry box to install it. This protects the electrical connection and the non-outdoor transformer. That's really my only concern with device design. I wish it was kinder to us Florida folks. In general, I'm happy with the quality and features. Rated at 19 GPM, the device is equivalent to running a 73-watt lightbulb continuously, and sadly, there's no service-only flow meter here. This would be an excellent energy saving option and would extend lamp life. I really want to get results in a year.
