I don't do much plumbing but am fairly experienced at it but have struggled with leaks. I've found that with the most recent plastic hardware I've purchased here and elsewhere, there is sometimes significant thread misalignment in the plastic molding seam that runs through the hardware. I have learned that neither teflon tape nor teflon sealant should be used on plastic fittings. This sealant does not contain PTFE or other lubricants so it is suitable for plastic and being pencil shaped and so thick it fills in thread misfits better than any other joint sealant I have tried. I've also used it on metal-to-metal and metal-to-plastic joints with great success, but be aware that the thick nature of the sealant makes the fitting much more difficult to tighten.
