I bought a Herstyler iron at a kiosk about 3 years ago. The other day I noticed that the plates of the iron were broken. I bought this iron as a replacement. I don't think the platen is the same as it was on my original iron. It had a black glass surface that glided through your hair as you styled it. Even though the plate isn't the same as the original iron, this iron gets the job done at a great price.
