Blu-ray Disk Player Plus HD video streaming for about the same price as a standalone streaming device

At the retail price I paid for this player in March 2013 of $99.99 I found that this player offers excellent value for money. It streams HD video from the Internet in superb detail from multiple sources either over a wired CAT-5 network connection or over Wi-Fi. I haven't tested all of this player's video streaming sources, but as an existing Revain Prime and Netflix subscriber, I was able to quickly set up this player with satisfactory results for both of these video sources. About a year ago I bought a Sony BDP Blu-Ray Disc Player S185 for my RV, which is the "cousin" of this player. I liked this player because it's compact and relatively inexpensive. He gave me great service but he has no wifi. I bought this player because it is also compact, has WiFi and also because of my positive experience with my other Sony Blu-ray player. I moved my old Sony player to a place in my house where I have a wired connection to my network. It still works fine there. The latest firmware update for this player includes a built-in browser, but it is inconvenient to use it without a keyboard. Using an internet-connected computer, tablet, or phone is much easier for a one-time video streaming setup process. This player uses the same compact remote control and similar OSD structure as my old Sony BDP-S185, so it took me some time to get used to this player. Like my old player, it has fairly quick boot times and clear and easy to navigate on-screen menus, which is probably why Sony didn't include a front panel display on this model. or standard DVDs, the picture on my 40" 1080P HDTV from this player is almost amazingly crystal clear and sharp. I was particularly impressed with this player's ability to convert standard DVDs to near HD quality, allowing me to play my entire disc library without frustration. For those who want to pass audio to a separate device like a soundbar, this player has standard RCA connectors for audio connections L and R. It also has composite and coaxial video outputs for older TVs, in addition to an HDMI port for HDTVs. If you don't want your Blu-ray player to have a keyboard and displays on the front, I believe this player will satisfy even the most demanding user. Apart from a few menu items, I see no features offered by the dedicated video streaming device that are not already included in this player A couple of screen wipes were a nice perk addition to the package.
